Do you need to treat local diseases in the oral cavity? Or you would like to apply a sensitive API which is degraded in the stomach and the liver and is not reaching the target site of the body in sufficient amounts? Our Mucofilm® technology might be the right option for you.
A thin film, which harbors your API, is applied to the mucosa of the oral cavity. After application, the film is small, light and cannot be felt by the patient. The Mucofilm® technology can be developed to deliver the API into the mucosa for local treatment, e.g. inflammations. We can also modify the technology to facilitate transmucosal delivery of the API to achieve a systemic delivery treating the whole body. This will prevent the API from the so called first-pass effect which is the mayor reason for a low oral bioavailability. Our Mucofilm® is designed to dissolve completely in one minute, a few hours or not at all. The mode of action will be customized, depending on your needs.
